Help....MOTU 828mkII will not power up properly!

My name is Joshua. I own a 828 mkII.
It is an awesome tool.
Today (Thurs Sept 22) when I turned the power on the machine would not get past the first three steps of powering up:
1. MOTU 828 mk II is displayed
2. The red LEDs flash
3. CueMix DSP is displayed
Then, IT FREEZES. I am upset, needless to say.
I can not access the parameters or do anything with it.
I love this thing, and I need to get my studio up and running STAT.
Can anyone help me?

Will it power up without being connected to the computer?

You can also try reseting the unit.
Power off the MOTU.
Uninstall the drivers.
Reinstall the drivers.
Power off the computer.
Power on the MOTU.
Perform a factory reset (press setup, turn the knob far right, follow the LCD instructions),
and then power up the computer again.

I use a PowerMac G4
Mac OSX.2.8
the MOTU 828mkII will power up while disconnected to the computer.
Matter of fact my computer does not detect any of my firewire peripherals!
Does anyone know how I can remedy my situation?

Sorted it!

Reset the PMU. My firewire ports were not recognised in system profile either..

Got the same problem, using PowerBook G4 with 10.4. I can't use the link you passed us. it's not working, please tell in this forum how it works properly, to get the machine recognized. thanks alot!!!

I just went through a 2 hour struggle with my 828 + a firewire DVD drive + 2 firewire HDs.

In the end, I powered up the 828 with the PC off. Whenever I plugged in 1 specific HD, it would jam it, and then if I unplugged it, things went back to normal. I cycled the power on the HD, and things appear to be ok. So remember to check your entire firewire chain, not just the components that are acting funny. It was apparently responding to something elsewhere in the chain.
