Where are Preferences now located?
Apologies in advance. I did several searches and I hope I'm not going crazy, but I cannot find the DP presences in Library or anywhere else for that matter. I'm having crashes and slowdowns out of the blue. I'm running DP 7.24 and OS 10.7.3. Many thanks in advance for any help!

You have to tell Lion to unhide the system folder stuff. You can find that in any Mac website and even around here if you search a bit. I don't know how to do that yet as I am not installing Lion for quite a while.

In the Finder, open a new window and go to your User folder, then hold the option key and select the Go menu (from the menu bar at the top of the screen) and select Library. Now you can see the previously-hidden User Library folder in the window. The MOTU prefs are in the User Library/Preferences folder.
You'll have to do the option-Go Menu thing every time you want to see your User/Library folder. There's a way to get it to permanently show, but it involves the Terminal and I'm not going there. At least not yet!

This is one of my main reasons for avoiding Lion. It just strikes me asbartmc wrote:In the Finder, open a new window and go to your User folder, then hold the option key and select the Go menu (from the menu bar at the top of the screen) and select Library. really dumb and a backwards move. "Preferences? User library? Oh, no one
will ever want to access those".
Maybe they will fix this in Mountain Lion.

I disagree...bartmc wrote: You'll have to do the option-Go Menu thing every time you want to see your User/Library folder. There's a way to get it to permanently show, but it involves the Terminal and I'm not going there. At least not yet!
You don't have to do anything in the Terminal or keep doing the Go-Menu thing.
Simply, once you get the Finder window of your Library folder, drop it in the left sidebar of a Finder window and it will be readily available every time you need it (in the form of an Alias in any Finder window). That's how I did it and I never had to mess with Terminal or anything like that.
Anytime I need to see my Library I simply open a Finder window, click the Alias and voilá...

Re: Where are Preferences now located?
Agreed, it's a no-brainer to just drop it onto the sidebar.
No reason to avoid Lion.....
Cheers

Re: Where are Preferences now located?
Sidebar is the answer - and no reason to avoid Lion. In some ways maybe this is a good move to stop people who don't know what they are doing trashing files they shouldn't be. Yes its big brother - but its still simpler than fiddling around with PC's with Windoze......
