Duplicate Mix Mode Problems?

Post by qwerty »

Hi, I'm having problems using "duplicate mix" in mix mode. I realized that some faders move when I select duplicate mix and just now , that happened when I renamed a mix. I'm using DP 7.24. I remember running into the duplicate mix problem ages ago and just haven't trusted or used mixmode much since DP 5 (I'd also always think of turning on mixmode just after it would have been helpful).... but I forgot and just realized that I have no idea about that stack of nine mixes in the pull down mix mode menu.I thought I was imagining some volume jumps and just kept on adjusting them. Is this still a common bug / problem for anyone else? I'd like to be able to trust the functions - Thanks for any ideas or info.

havent seen it happen in dp7 yet, but used to see it occasionally in dp5

just make sure u hit save before doing a "duplicate mix" and if it then happens again, u can either delete that messed up duplicate mix and re-duplicate ur keeper mix, or close the file without saving and relaunch dp and then try it again.

last resort would b to 'save a copy as' of the whole project, then do ur changes to the copy

Yes. Thanks. I've been doing a lot of saving and relaunching since I rediscovered the problem. It sort of partially defeats the purpose of mix mode for me - quickly saving alternate versions of a mix that can be a/b compared quickly. I also worry if anything other than the clearly visible moving faders might be being altered in the mixes.

Re: Duplicate Mix Mode Problems? Relief !

Big thanks to the marvelous Dave at wonderful MOTU tech links ! Haven't yet figured out what I might have done to cause a few projects to be bitten by this corruption, but in the mean time, his solution is working for me. If anyone else is experiencing this problem try:
"toggle between two mixes before you duplicate a mix".
It's working well for me in the cases where necessary.
Thanks MOTU ! Thanks Dave!
