Pops and clicks from MachFive 3 w Mainstage

Post by farmertomato »

I'm trying a setup with MachFive 3 and Mainstage. I'm hearing frequent pops and clicks, not loud but noticeable enough to be a problem. It sounds a little like the old days with mismatched master clocks or somesuch. Does anyone have any suggestions, or should I give up trying to use these two together?

Going with the obvious, what are I/O buffer settings?

You also didn't mention any system specs.

I just installed Machfive 3 and am also a Mainstage user.

I've used Mainsage 1 and now all the way up to 2.1.3 on my
main laptop, a 2008 black macbook (upgraded 4gb ram / 7200rpm 500gb HD / 2.2ghz).
I've just came up on a
2nd laptop... a MacBookPro 2008 (4gb ram / 7200rpm 200gb HD / 2.5ghz).
...They are both running snow leopard 10.6.8.

I am about to test the new Mainstage 2.2 release on the 2nd laptop without installing Logic Pro 9 ( I have purchased the new Mainstage 2.2 from App Store). I've already got everything running great (Logic Pro 9 / Mainstage 2.1.3) on my 1st macbook, and i'd like to turn the new laptop into a live performance beast without adding the bulk of additional content from the Logic install.

I was planning on testing Machfive on both of my laptops (at different times of course), and seeing if there's any noticeable difference between running as an AU plugin with Logic and/or Mainstage 2.

Sorry to ramble on, I felt that by leaving some specs about my machine(s) might help move this topic along. I've got a couple different setups to tryout, and a world of Machfive3 to learn, and if i come across any clicks / pops along my travels, i will post here.

I play in a few different musical groups, and my role in each of those projects varies... Mainstage 2 and Machfive 3 used together on 1 or 2 laptops (depending on results) is what i feel will give me everything i need for my personal setup and live needs. In one of the groups, I'm gonna have to figure out how to sync Mainstage & Machfive 3 to Ableton for live performance and recording, but thats for another topic. In another, i will be adding a vocoder to my live mix via Mainstage and the EVOC plug-in, or maybe something in Machfive that i haven't figured out yet. Ramble Ramble Ramble. . .

I look forward to hearing some replies :headbang:
