My problem is that when I slave the 8pre to the 828 mk3, running @ 88.2 khz, with ADAT ports assinged correctly for each unit, 4 adat cables connected between the two units, and firewire plugged only into the 828, I get a weird clicking noise on channel 5 of the 8pre (or channel 1 of ADAT B depending on how you look at it [A 1-4, B 5-8]). You can actually see it registering on the channel 5 LED level meter on the front of the 8pre. The noise is persistent, but random, and sounds like a noise you'd here when a track clips, like a sharp "snap" sound. It isn't very loud, but loud enough to make that channel unusable.
Now, I know for a fact it has something to do with the ADAT setup, because if I daisy chain the two units together with firewire, set them to 88.2 khz and crank up the buffer rate everything works fine. In fact, that's how I've been recording everything, and I am happy with the results, but I want to be able to throw some low pass filters and reverb on the 8pre channels and send them through quemix for monitoring (Not necessary at the moment, but would still be nice.)
Any Ideas? I have 2 different lengths of ADAT cables, would that make a difference? 2 are 6ft, the other 2 are 10ft. Otherwise.... I have no Idea. Also still having issues with a previos post I put up as well. Whitenoise bursts when running 2 adat units. I'd eventually like to have the gear i spent a couple thousand dollars on working correctly, so if spending a bit more will make that happen I am completely willing to take the necessary steps.

Re: Strange issue with 8pre and 828mk3 @ 88.2 khz ADAT
This isn't really a solution for your direct problem, but I don't think the Cue Mix effects work when you run the clock above 48k. At least that's what I've found while doing research on the units.

Are you using word clock? I have a 2408-2 and 828-3 connect via ADAT, and initially saw the same problem with a few configurations. One channel had constant low level noise. Timing the 2408 via word clock from the 828 solved it. My setup runs at 44.1.
