Does anyone know if the new video out in DP will allow a user to output full screen to a second monitor attached directly to the the computer (can't just say Mac anymore, can we)?
DP8's new video engine allows full-screen viewing of 720 or 1080 HD video clips on a primary or secondary computer monitor, or on a conventional HDMI or SDI video monitor connected to a MOTU video interface such as the HD Express or HDX-SDI.
Ooh yes I would like to know that too..... I mean we saw it go full screen on the main display, so I imagine it's going to work like that on a second display.... fingers crossed....
From what I could tell from the NAMM video, you would drag the movie window to your 2nd diplay and just double click on it. He talks about having it full screen on a 2nd monitor in the video.
I paused the video clip full screen when he brought up the video menu window. I didn't see anything that present movie full screen or anything like that, looks like the only way to do it is double click on it. I'm hoping that it once you do that when you go back to the project it stays full screen.
So psyched for this feature in DP8, no more fighting with the bars around the video window with my projector!

Going full screen often does mean the second monitor (other monitor) will go dark. It would be nice to have both options so presenting to clients and reviewing it a little slicker. But I can always just turn the non-movie monitor off manually in those less frequent events. Full screen and DP filly active in the opposing window would seem essential for the feature to have real value.
I'd like to assume that would be the case, but I can't help but think of the CD burning option in DP that only burns from 44.1 projects. Useless for those forced into 48k by the nature of the work.
Who knows? Maybe DP 8 will allow burning from a 48k project? RIght...and while they're at it, maybe they can make that feature work more efficiently. But for now, the video thing is a pretty big deal. Between that and 64 bit... oink! oink ... I'm in heaven...
