Clearly, there is room for a DP7 tutorial?

How's this? "Using DP with Plogue Bidule and VEPro: [insert links to anything Mike Patti says on YouTube]"

We're done here. :P

(aw, what the heck… let's go ahead and do it anyway. Maybe Mike will chime in.)
lol. Man, that video is pretty outdated. My template is still pretty much the same basic idea though. DP7 with bidule running like 14 instances of Kontakt, audio and MIDI going through rewire.
Can't make 64-bit bidule work work though, as rewire is old.

Hoping MOTU has some cool surprises for us at NAMM!

Also, I see no problem with sticking to ONE computer. I finished up an epic project for a big game coming out this year... tons of layering, huge libraries, lots of complex stuff layered together. Works just fine!

Only a matter of time before we can host all our libraries on an iPhone.

Hi Mike- question for you, assuming you want to stick w/ 1 Mac and DP etc.... goes 64 bit in your opinion will there still be as much of a need for this kind of ancillary software?
Maybe I am missing something but to me this all looks great with 32 bit limitations but what about after the 64 bit transition?
I hope this question makes sense?
Thanks

I have been unable to get audio from Plogue Bidule to DP since day one. A few posts from Seb at the PB forum has finally ironed this out:

http://www.plogue.com/phpBB3/viewtopic. ... 969#p32969" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To summarize exactly what I was doing wrong.... well, here are the steps on what to do right:

• Once you initially setup PB, quit and launch DP.

• From DP, create or select an audio input and from the input selection column, select a Plogue Bidule output.

• Then launch PB which should launch in Rewire mode with Rewire Bidules and a MIDI Splitter.

• Add your instruments and MIDI Bidules for your DP instrument channels.

• Select your instruments in DP and play your heart out (or your ass off).

• Face! You must face! :)

There could be other issues that need to be ironed out so if that doesn't work, go to the PB link above and follow the instructions.

I have had great luck with Bidule, use it every day. VE Pro 5, however has been giving me issues with Play. It works, but when I quit DP, VE Pro 5 crashes every time. I have VE Pro 5 on two stand alone Macs going into DP on my Mac Pro. The Mac running VE Pro without play closes down just fine.

This happens EVERY time! I look at the crash log and Play appears in there quite a bit.

Anyone else in this boat? :banghead:

Anyone who wants to start helping formulate a complete set of instructions for Plogue Bidule and DP should start a list now. I'm still involved with a recording project, but when I come out of that, I'll try to get these tips combined (into two subjects, of course, PB and VEP), cleaned up into a final form and posted. At least with PB I have some experience, though it's been a few years.

I'm deep in some projects myself, but I wanted to chime in here, maybe someone can check this out. I'll search too when I have some time.

But I remember seeing that there's a difference between a Bidule input and a MIDI port input. One is NOT delay compensated and adds latency. while the other IS delay compensated.

...Or I could be losing my mind.. probably a little of both..

anyone hear about this?

I'll look it up if not..

Cheers!

I've read that there are LOTS of known issues with PLAY.

There was an update to VEP 5 this week. or maybe last week..

But I read in the Change Log that there were lots of fixes. Maybe that'll help ya!

Thanks Marc,

I did install the update. Same problem. The thing is, that it works just fine until I close a DP project, then it crashes VE Pro 5. No problem reopening the project, but all those crashes just can't be good for VE 5.

I have too many Play libraries built into my orchestra template. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps working. So far, so good. But I still can't believe that crashing the program every time I close a project is good! :surrender:

Solved my problem :headbang:

Once I used decouple mode on VE Pro 5, no more crashes with Play! Helps when you read the manual again :rtfm:
