Track transfer

Hi all, I 've just gotten a powerbok G4 and an 828MKII.
I'm used to twiddling knobs, pushing faders and arming rec tracks...
My old band and i were using Cool Edit Pro breifly before this and recorded some great material that i now want to transfer to my new mac.
My problem with loading the wav files is that the info (position in track) attached to each CEP track will not go with it so i end up with all tracks bunched up together at the 0 (start) line of Logic Platinum 6.
So ideally i need to run the tracks from CEP through the firewire output and into Logic Platinum 6 via the MOTU.
Is this possible/correct?
Is there some way of routing the tracks (ie. Track 1 CEP to Track 1 of Logic) or is it automatic?
Do i need to go through the MOTU at all?

The quickest way to get up and running in that scenerio is to bounce each track in Cool Edit to disk seperatly. Make sure you export the entire length of the song for each track. Then export each bounced track out of Cool Edit (if it hasn't done that during the bounce already) as SDII or AIFF. This way each bounced track will be the full length of the song and exactly the same length.

Next, import each bounced and exported track into a unique track in Logic and line up the beginning of the tracks. You can now trim out the silent areas of each track and the program material will line up just right.

It should be within the same program, but then you are taking extra D/A <-> A/D hits and smearing the sound. Sure it may be quicker and sometimes that matters a lot but oooh the goo it makes.

I guess it depends if the audio card will let you loop the in to the out. I've never really tried it figuring it was like that scene in Ghostbusters where Ray says not to cross the streams. This may not be possible using two different programs at the same time.

Audio is like me in school, the less math it has to be put through the better.
