Abbey Road Drummer Series (upgrade) from NI

Post by mhschmieder »

The Abbey Road Drums series for Kontakt has been upgraded to the Drummer series, with additional features, loops, and a mixing panel. This is a free upgrade.

Unfortunately, I can't get any of the PHP-based links to load in any browser that I try on my desktop today. Maybe it's "too soon" after the email was sent out.

If anyone has been successful doing this upgrade, I'm curious about whether it finally makes Kontakt a good interface for virtual drum workflow.

Edit: Firefox gave me better diagnostics than other browsers, saying the link timed out. So I figure too many people are hitting the update site at once. Maybe try back in a few days?

I was just able to link to the Modern Drummer download. It appears to be about 7.2G, so I'm guessing their servers are being flooded.

My MacBook Pro says it will take about 55mins..... 1 down 3 to go

patience patience

No luck here either, not in a hurry, I'll let the "early adopters" get their fix.

I got mine to finally start downloading.. i think their servers got bombarded.

I just left the link sitting there on my Mac and I left for some lunch, came back and it's starting to download now. 6GB remaining.. 1 hour and 40 mins.. hopefully it's worth it! ..well i guess anything for free is worth it! ha

Same problem here... Just assumed it was server congestion. But I'm sure looking forward them... I have the Abbey Road 60s, 70s and Modern drums sets, and I like Studio Drummer a lot, so it will be swell to have that kind of instant inspiration in all four kits.

Gotten 3 out of the 4. Probably eased up a bit traffic wise.

I installed Modern Drummer. In Kontakt 5, there are now duplicates. I did read that they install alongside the original versions . I guess that's OK, but i probably would rather have an option to uninstall the first version.

I got 2 so far and almost have the last 2. I checked it out for a few minutes after recording all day. It's really nice to be able to process these sounds more. Good stuff.

I'll wait a few days until things settle down. I only have 60's Abby Roads, but it'll be somethin' :)

Does anyone know if the grooves are the same for each product? It seems likely.

I only have the '60s Drums, also, but I am hoping that the upgrade will give me the entire set of MIDI grooves.

Downloaded and installed three out the four. The grooves are excellent and different for each "Decade". Glad to see I can clean out the old version. Excellent upgrade (free) for this loyal DP and Native-Instruments supporter.
