Does DP7 include MW Collection...
Hello All!
I have not updated my DP6 to 7 yet, and was wondering, do the AU versions of the MW Collections plugins come with the new version, or, do I have to purchase them separate?
Thanks!

Re: Does DP7 include MW Collection...
The three in the collection-- MWEQ, MW Leveler, and Proverb-- are all bundled with DP.
They are MAS format only, afaik. The separate bundle has RTAS, AU, VST3, etc.

That's what I assumed, just wanted to make sure before making any purchasing decisions.

Re: Does DP7 include MW Collection...
It has been awhile. I ended up getting into more video production and less sound mixing for film so I've been away from DP for awhile. That said, I just can't stay away.
I still have a lot of work in DP and I am probably going to update to DP7 before I play with them again.
I also use Ableton a lot too so I've been wanting the MW collection in there as I LOVE the MWEQ.
And of course, I still use all MOTU equipment for AD/DA
They can pry my 896HDs out of my dead hands....or replace them with the new ones!

Haha, don't let me signature line fool you, I've not updated it. I'm actually on DP6. I was just laughing looking at it. I have about 20+ additional software synths now and have 3 more hardware synths. Guess I should fix that!
I'm working on some new dance projects as we've recently had a song on the billboard dance charts. I think my plan is going to be write in Live, master in DP. It's funny, I bought a PT8 system while I was gone. Used it for 2 huge projects. Sold it and hope to NEVER have to use PT again. Every step of the way, I was like "Oh wow, this is so easy in DP, why am I here!"
It's nice to be home!

So, let me ask, how different is DP7 to DP6 for most of you? I did some pretty big projects with DP6 so I was very use to all the changes that went into it. Given I've been around since DP3, what was the things that made you happiest.
And I have to say, sad as this will sound, the skins look great
Can't wait to use them. My studio is dark so I like to keep the screen colors dark. Sad that something not related to the sound AT ALL makes me so happy

Welcome back Grimepoch, nice to see you back here.
If you want see skins for DP,you should check out what Amplidood is doing, totally amazing! imo he is the biggest reason you like the way DP has become a DAW with different skins.
http://www.ampguimods.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As far as changes from 6 to 7, I honestly can't tell you, I bought DP6 and never used(still in box:lol)
But the jump from 5 to 7 was a very big leap.Someone on the board recently compiled a list of the changes of DP on recent versions, you should find with a search.
Good luck,
KG

Re: Does DP7 include MW Collection...
Great plan, I basically do this. Although I mix it up between writing in Live and writing in DP.grimepoch wrote:I think my plan is going to be write in Live, master in DP.
Mostly I decided that Logic and Live made clumsy bed companions where Live and DP get along great! The strengths of Live are the weaknesses of DP and visa versa, whereas Logic is middle of the road between the two.
Please do post often here, it's always great to have people with similar set ups to roll issues or cool tricks off of!

Re: Does DP7 include MW Collection...
Generally speaking, DP7 is not a lot different on the surface from DP6. I find DP7.24 more stable on my system, fwiw. If you've made the jump from DP5 and got used to the GUI changes in DP6, then you should feel quite at home in DP7.grimepoch wrote:So, let me ask, how different is DP7 to DP6 for most of you? Re: Does DP7 include MW Collection...
The thing I like about live, for dance music, is the session view. It really is a whole new beast. It has taken my music production in a totally different direction because of the different work flow.
That said, the arrangement view, well, I think DP has this down perfect. I tend to try and not use the arrangement view much when in Live other then when I need to or I am finally printing out the song after I've arranged it all.
What I tell a lot of people is DP just makes sense from a mixing board perspective. It's very well laid out and for that final mixdown where you are being an engineer, for me anyways, it just makes more sense.
I use Logic as well. On one hand, I LOVE many things about logic. The object oriented clips and most importantly the comp tool. What I hate about logic is the hardware MIDI implementation. Trying to take 2 controller keyboards and control 2 external synths is a nightmare to setup. I've used the environment, I've dug deeper than anyone I know, and at the end of the day, it's just SEVERELY limited. There is no concept of input device per-say out of the box, just channel. I hate that. DP is so much better there.
Like most people, I use the best tool for the job. DP, Live, Logic, they all exist on all my systems and I use them all for whatever I need in them. It's refreshing to switch between them at times even for me
As for DP6, I had a lot of problems with setting loop boundaries for playback with the keystrokes. Hoping that magically works for me in DP7!

Re: Does DP7 include MW Collection...
I'll use the Arrangement View in Live, but mostly if I'm working with warped clips etc. Basically it's easier to import files end to end to DP, especially considering that unless you flatten audio clips the start/end points aren't written to the file. Agreed about Session View, for working on the arrangement of a song it's great to not have things set in stone like that so you can quickly jump back and forth.grimepoch wrote:The thing I like about live, for dance music, is the session view. The big advantage to me of working in DP comes when I'm using hardware synths and I want to have a Chunk/Sequence that's MIDI in the same project as the audio file Sequence/Chunk. Plus SysEx and multiple arrangements in Track Overview in different Chunks etc.
