What do you use to burn a quick CD for clients?

I followed reports from here and installed Jam / Toast 6, booted in 32 mode
and it works via Rosetta...
10.6.8, Mac Mini Core 2 Duo

Re: updates, looks like the Toast 6.1.1 update is no longer available. Updates are only posted on the Roxio site back to version 9.

I'll probably have to go to Toast 11.

As many complaints as there are regarding Roxio tech support being terrible - and they are among the worst examples of an outsourced support department being totally clueless - it is nice that the engineers have released legacy updates so that v.6 and 7 still work in later OS than were intended.

I can verify that Toast 7.1.3 works in Lion. It's still on my HD even though I don't use it anymore. My daughter's copy of Toast 9, likewise, still works.

Well, I've only done this for MP3s and Divx AVIs to play in my DVD player, so this must be what I'm missing.

I think I'm getting it now. If one used wave files from a DP audio ƒ, they'd most likely be at 24bit, so technically they'd not be true audio CDs. The thing is though, wouldn't most clients be able to play mp3 or wav files on the car stereos and then DVD players (everyone has one, no?) when they get home? I mean, if "lowly ol' me" with my budget crappola Acme DVD player can play stuff burned from the file menu, why can't "highly new clients"?

Well, no, you're not missing anything.... but most car decks and other listening devices still play Redbook Audio CDs, and they won't read a data disk containing mp3s or .wavs.

Totally on the nose. The WORST on the planet. Apparently no training at all, an incomplete database... I've never had a worse experience.

My car can only play red book CDs. My daughter's car is 2 years old and can play mp3 audio disks but not DVDs. Most home CD players cannot play anything else - how many would think to put a disk into their DVD players?

Nope - if someone wants an audio reference, a red book CD is what I give them.

I mix to an Alesis Masterlink and at the same time route the mix back into the session- this way I have the mix in two places. The Masterlink can be used as a quick burner of CDs for clients and I can easily listen to a mix without having to open a session. Very convenient. BTW- the front end of the Masterlink is a Cranesong Hedd...
