When you say you can't open them, do you mean they load but don't play or that DP simply refuses to import them or recognize them as a valid audio format? What does DP say/do when you attempt to import?

There is an export bundle replacement for DP 4.6 available at the MOTU site. Perhaps it would help with imports as well?

I wasn't aware that DP supported import of MP3's...

Go to the MOTU site. Download the new LAME import/export bundle and install it. It may well fix your problem.

thank you dmshep but it's not the solution, I repeat that it's only with 30 .aif wiches coming from an export DP session. I can import other aif!!!
but not this very important 30! (live5 can! itunes can.....!!!!!!)

Just to be clear.

Can you not import them into a new DP session, (into the bites window)

or

can you see the files in the bites window, but not pull them into the tracks window?

Which one?

I'm not an expert on DP by any means (see my installation difficulty post - I can't even get the thing installed!) but I've had similar trouble with PC programs like Premiere and Lightwave.

See if you can import the .aif with another program that has a convertor. Then either resave as an .aif or as another format. Try a bunch of different ones, even if they seem counterintuitive - stuff like Mp3, WAV, SND or whatever you have handy. Lossless conversion obviously is the way to go, mp3's destroy data, but sometimes you have to take what you can get in a deadline crunch... See if DP imports those.

I've had video files where Premiere chokes, but when resaved as a different format (even single frames) then Premiere is happy. Whatever it takes to get the job done.

Open them in an other editor (Peak, etc.), export them again... may be a workaround.

You could pay 30 bucks for quicktime PRO and then you will have export. That's how I deal with it, at least until I got Nuendo which takes everything.

ok,I try to be clear with my poor english language!!!

I worked on a DP project last week.

I exported my work of this DPproject into .aif (30 files)

I deleted yesterday the DP project, NOT THE aif!!!.

Now I want to import these aif into a new DP project but I can't.

I can read this 30 aif files in all the other audiosoft I have!!!!

voila.....

The only thing I can think of is that the AIF which was saved is somehow slightly corrupted.

DP itself would be the source for this corruption.

If so, you will need to resave the AIF using either earlier version of DP or another program entirely.

If DP still does not want to import the AIF after being resaved, then try converting it to something else. Wav? Snd? What else is there?
