OS things I would like.

Post by twistedtom »

Two things I would like;
One to be able to make my mouse pointer flash when I need to locate it on screen. As many of us are using more screens and larger ones the pointer often gets lost, even when shaking it. Are there any apps for this?
It would also be nice to have a command that says stop doing what I asked for and go back to where you were. Sometimes I click on the wrong thing or get the spinning wheel of death. Often the only recourse is to force quit the program.

Maybe overkill, but it does what you want, and it's free.

Mouse Locator is not as intrusive as others. And you can change the image it uses to something you like better than the default.

Getting applications to stop what they're doing was common in early computing (often using Control-S). Great to have, but I expect it would be a nightmare to code.

Simple trick without any software:
I use the Zoom feature with a CTL-Scroll Wheel. That will zoom the screen at your cursor location.

This will easily allow you to find your cursor wherever it is.

Yes.
That works fine.

The thing is that sometimes I loose sight of my pointer a lot, especially with my 2 23´cinema displays. I used to do it with the OS´s control-zoom, but I found simply shaking the mouse works beautifully with OD.

The OmniDazzle thingie I mentioned upthread works very nice. You can program it to simply shake the mouse a couple of times and it will make the pointer as obvious as you want. In my case a red circle around it, and it comes back to normal after 1 or 2 seconds.

And the app is free 8)
