DP Authorisation after restoring/cloning ..RESOLVED

Post by stephentayler »

Hi Folks.....

I'm about to go on a trip, and typically my MacBook Pro has developed a problem with the superdrive. A disc is stuck, won't eject, and the Mac won't recognise it's even in there.... no time to get it to Apple........

I always take a Time Machine backup and my DP disc in case of any problems.

If I use Carbon Copy Cloner to back up my System drive before I leave, does that clone keep DP's Authorisation? Or if that doesn't work, will I perhaps be able to authorise DP for that drive on my Mac Pro??

Cheers

Stephen

Hi, I once had a stuck disc that wouldn't mount or eject. I tried all the usual suggestions but it finally came out by starting up the machine in Target mode - if you haven't tried that already give it a shot. It worked for me.

Thanks for that, but it seems physically stuck, I can hear it trying to eject, but it doesn't come out.... I think the drive has become misaligned physically.

Anyway, I've answered my own question. Cloned the MacBook to an external drive, then started up my Mac Pro from that external drive and authorised it there!!

Thanks
