Here is the latest song to go my band's album.
Each song I mix seems to do better. I wish I had time to go back and e-mix earlier ones, but...
Anyway, ENJOY!
The group is MALACHI 3:1

Well, Don, I'd have to agree. I think you're getting the hang of your medium! Good work!

Thanks. Means a lot coming from you. Recording preference wa are so subjective. Trick is finishing a project that sounds good to most people on a variety of listening mediums. Very challenging to say the least.

Hearing you and James both posting very polished music done in DP is inspiring, to say the least. Did you listen to James's tribute to Nigel Tufnel on 11/11/11? If not, that's worth a hearing. Excellent work!

There's something about getting in the groove with your tools that just makes things click, and it makes anything possible with a certain degree of polish that sounds finished and professional. My first experience in which I "knew that I knew" what I was doing took place when I duplicated a mix done in a large studio in about 4 hours. Plus I finished it -- they had not finished, even after 3 days in the studio. But I could hear everything they did, and I knew how to make it happen in my mix of the same tracks, so I could work fast, and the results were amazing (all modesty aside, for this is really about the quality of the tools). It's proof-positive that DP is capable of the finest commercial mixes if the artists and engineers are. We all work in different styles of music and engineering, but we do so with a shared knowledge and enthusiasm for the tools we're using, and it's a great feeling to hear when others find their groove.

I did hear James's song and it was very smooth and transparent/open. I was impressed on the quality also and how good the video looked. He is very talented. I wish he lived closer to me. Would love to work with him on a project. Maybe we could collaborate on something sometime.
You are right shooshie, with the right knowledge, DP usable to produce very professional and marketable projects. I don't like Protools. I like DP. Don't know why everyone is hung up on PT? Resistant to change and progress I guess.

Because someone told them so... my mother used to say "if someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?" Yeah, some are told that it's the best so people buy into it... it's like trends in music today... you hear it so much, you acclimate to it (even though you feel it's horrendous) and it just becomes acceptable... sad but true!donreynolds wrote: I don't like Protools.
