Important question before buying machfive!

Post by ratox »

I am interested into Machfive 3 but i did burn too much money because of obscure feature descriptions on other samplers....
Is Machfive 3 able to modulate all loops parameters in realtime via random lfo (making irregular always changing loop start and lenght)? Has it multiple loops range for a single zone?

Only Kontakt so far is able, Halion only modulate loop start, and that sucks. Unfortunately Kontakt has no drag and drop from host, which i love.

can you give me this info please?

nop you can't.

Maybe M5v3 granular stuff is more suited for what you want to do though ?

that's an huge fail. Grain tools are a different things. I am an Ircam forum member and i like to develop my granular synthesis and well and the difference between grain synthesis and sampling is fluid: If you make grains bigger and you control them one by one you are doing actually a sampling! :)
Samplers are useful to give the performer a more accurate control on every fragment. granular synthesis is employed generally to give a cloudy or textured flavour to the sound. I hate kontakt 4 interface but it seems it's the most advanced sampler for sampling and looping. If you need to do granular synthesis there is plenty of very complex dedicated tools.

thanks. hope they will do a serious kontakt contender one day...

Not only do I think it is already a serious contender but the feature that is your deal breaker is not all that much used by the majority of users. It's great that Kontakt works for you, but one feature that no other samplers have is not what I'd call a major competitive edge - however it does sound like an interesting way of working.
