I run an all virtual instrument setup. I'd like to mixdown my songs without having to freeze tracks. I don't want to add the extra freezetracks to my sequences just to make a referce mix. I use to use a Tascam CD recorder hooked up to my 828MKII's digital outs to make reference mixes. It seems redundent to go back to using the CD recorder if everything I need is built into my G5.
Here's what I'd like to do: I would like to send the digital out on my 828mkii to it's own digital input or the digital input on the g5 and drop a reference mix without any fuss. I tried simply connecting the 828's digital in to it's digital out but I couldn't figure out how to route this within DP4.6. I also have Peak I can mix to but I'm not sure how to set up the g5's digital input to see the 828's digital out. The MIDI/AUDIO utility was no help and wouldn't see a clock source on my 828.
Im guessing the easiest way would be to loop the 828's digital signals.
Can anyone shed some light on making this work. Thanks in advance!

Christian,
Make a new stereo path in your I/O section and label it Mix Bus. Make a new stereo track in your session. Label it (song name) Mix. Assign its input from Mix Bus and assign its output to your L-R monitor outputs. Assign all your track outputs (including any aux inputs you may have from external sources and virtual instrument outputs) to the Mix Bus. Now you can record your entire mix in real time to your new stereo track and have it instantly available to burn to CD. (Well, almost instantaneously. You'll still have to export to an interleaved AIFF file to burn your CD in Toast or itunes).
Basically no need to go out of your interface and back in when you have the routing built in to DP.
