Just hooked up a second motu 828mkii firewire and have a couple problems. Using cubase 5. First motu never gave me any issues. I'm running xp on a athlon x64 with 2.8 gb ram. Here's the issues
First... I can't directly monitor any of the inputs on the second one in cubase. I'f I turn off direct input monitoring I can hear them but with enough latency to make tracking worthless. This could be a setting in the cubase it self but I don't see any and it seems odd that the first rack would be fine while the second wouldn't. This has to be a button somewhere I'm not seeing? In the cubase, the cue mix or hardware. Assign input Monitor to main out of motu mkuo master is what I'm looking for.
Two. I can record through both racks but now I have a strange stutter sound that occurs every five mintues or so. This only happens when tracking. Sounds like a rapid stutter that lasts about 2 seconds. buffer problem?

First: CueMix FX and/or the MOTU Drivers don't route audio between the two units via firewire. You need to burn and input pair (analog or digital) on one to take the output of the other or connect them via ADAT and do the routing via the mix busses.
Second: Dunno - maybe buffer, maybe clocking.

Re: 828mkii. 2 problems
So sacrifice 2 ins of my master and line the outputs into it. That sucks. There's no way to tell the slave to use the main outs of the master?
I dropped the buffer to 256. Seems bit better. I'll put it under an all 16 track recording load and see

If you're not using the S/PDIF I/O, you can hook up the out of slave to the in of the master and set the mains of the slave mix bus to S/PDIF - that way you're not burning analog inputs on the master if that's what you are concerned about.
