pcie424+2408MK3,sound forge latency bug?

Post by sslneve »

Hi all motunation members..

Currently i got brand new pci-e 424 card and 2408MK3. windows 7, and I installed soudn forge 10, and found a strange problem.

When I load a wav file into Sound forge, and I hit the space bar to listen to that sound,
2~3 seconds SF freezes and playback that file.. not always, but the first time of loading wavs. After experiencing some pauses, the loaded file can be well played by spacebar.
I never had this problem on HDSP 9652 or M-audio 1394 stuff. I tweaked all parameters on PCI audio console but in vain. is it natural? please help me to do solve this.. very annoying..
Not heavy multitracks, but only 2-track file.. why should this happen.. I'm so disappointed..
thank you and help me!

I have the Traveler and use Sound Forge 10 extensively, along with many other audio apps (Cubase, Cakewalk, Goldwave (which is good!), n-Track and also many ripping utilities etc...)

I've never experienced this problem at all.

I can suggest to turn off the autoplay check box that's in the file selection box pop-up. (File | open)

Make sure your hard drives are defragmented on a regular basis. Put the page file on another physical hard drive than the one that Windows is installed to, if possible.

Update all of your drivers on the pc to the latest, for everything, from the manufacturers' sites. This includes any third party firewall and/or antivirus applications. Run only firewall at a time, and not more. Same for anti-virus.

Perhaps also close any other audio utilities you might have running, while using SF10.

Give the pc a nice tune-up, by deleting the registry entries for all unnecessary programs starting with Windows. If you don't know how to easily, type msconfig into the start menu and use that instead.

Type services.msc into the start menu and press enter. Use this to disable all unnecessary services. Here is a guide to use to help you out on what to do with which. Scroll down to the chart: http://www.blackviper.com/2010/12/17/bl ... gurations/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Make sure Windows Update is updated to the newest patches, for good measure.

Make sure that Sound Forge is using the correct MOTU ASIO driver in its settings. Options | preferences | audio

If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to post. In the meantime, please keep us informed! :)
