How do I halve tempo without affecting audio?

Post by skyboy »

I recorded a project at 162 BPM with audio and MIDI tracks. I'd like to create a new sequence with a tempo of 81 BPM. When I save tracks as a chunk and create a new sequence set at 81, the audio and MDI gets spread out. How do I preven this from happening?

Also, when pasting into a new sequence, how do I get the mixing board inserts to transfer as well?

Thanks!

Start by duplicating the sequence.

Then lock all the tracks, then change tempo

If you do additional processing afterwards and then Audio Merge or BTD, does a sample recalculation occur that would then cause degradation to the original audio, or is this a foolproof technique for preserving audio integrity at all stages of a project once a tempo change is dictated?

I saw this hint in another topic a few weeks back and bookmarked it for an experiment. I didn't know about the locking trick until recently, so when I did tempo changes before, I only applied to really old tracks whose audio quality wasn't all that great to start with. :-)

This is such a simple process, it almost seems to good to be true. :shock:

In addition to what has been written, each audio file has a parameter where you allow or forbid time stretching (when changing the CT tempo) and pitch shifting (by modulation or changing keys in the CT too). To do that, open the SBs window in list mode and select all your SBs and change the parameter to the desired behavior (if they are not the way you want by default).

When you ask about the mixer's inserts, I assume you mean all the plug-ins and their settings, correct? If so, you can create a clipping of all your tracks and simply drag and drop it in the new sequence's TO.
There are many ways to do that. I think you can also save and recall a full mixer "snapshot", but I'm not sure.
You'll probably get a lot of alternative solutions from the guys soon.

Thanks so much for the responses!

Locking the tracks did it.

I won't get the chance to try the clipping procedure until tomorrow (oops, make that later today).

Really appreciate the help.http://www.motunation.com/forum/posting ... b49fb1d0ee#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
