If you've had trouble with one guy over there, I wouldn't write off the company because of it. I know it's frustrating as hell. But maybe he had a bad day, or maybe he's just a jerk (there are those out there, you know ;-)). But one bad apple shouldn't spoil the whole tree.

For both guys, I say hang in there and give UA another chance. I can't imagine mixing without the UADs.

Best regards,
Erik

I like the product (and still use the one I purchased!) I wouldn't consider writing off a company because of a single negative experience with a tech support person, but I've sent about 6 emails that were very similar to my earlier post, and haven't received one response. Not even, "We checked in on our promotions from earlier this year and the one promotion where we offered $50 off was clearly marked that you had to use the $50 within 30 days of purchase. While we would miss your business, we find it appropriate to leave your account credit as is..." etc. Nothing. Also, no: "You're right Richard. You purchased the product during the promotion and we accidentally eliminated the credit on your account. It has been re-instated. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Either I must seem totally irrational, giving them the justification that it isn't worth dealing with such an irrational guy, or they just don't care.

The product is good. But I haven't seen any personal evidence yet that they are good with customer relations and honoring promises.

I do need to admit to being unfair about blaming UAD for not responding to all of the of emails I've sent. While I have now sent a bunch of emails, a good number were sent only last Friday (later in the evening). I probably only have sent two or three emails where there has been plenty of time to respond.

UAD wouldn't have had the opportunity to respond to those emails I sent Friday, so it was unfair of me to include those as evidence of them not caring. Also, the emails I had sent before Friday were through their online message form, so it may have been sent to the same person that I had the unfortunate experience with. The emails sent Friday were sent to the various email address on their website.

Or ... consider that the guy(s) that have been replying to you are not themselves able to authorize an exception or change (from their point of view) in the UA policy. It may be too much work for them to harangue their managers to make your situation better. So it might not be so much a case of "they just don't care" as much as "it's too hard to make it right for this one guy" when they're likely juggling other customers and even looking after their own job security. Either way, I agree that it's frustrating, and I hope the situation gets resolved for you. If not, well, it's only $50. Not I regularly throw away $50 bills, but it could be worse.

BTW ... I had a sort of similar situation a while back with another plug-in company who shall remain nameless. I had one of their premium bundles that I used in OS 9, and then when I jumped to OSX, I inquired about an update. The update was alarmingly expensive. I wasn't getting any new plug-ins, just OSX compatibility. As I posted on another thread here, I am happy and willing to pay for updates as I know that the company has to spend resources to create them and should be paid for that. But geez, this one was REALLY pricey! I ended up just abandoning that one company's plug-ins and purchasing another UAD-1 card for less money than the other company's update.

Erik

True, $50 isn't the be-all-end-all. Thanks for the thoughtful comments Erik. There are lots of factors to consider from their end. I usually don't get as vocal about my experiences with companies. I think the this one struck such a bad chord with me and I replied to the post complimenting their customer service.

I just received an email from the tech support person at UAD (Sunday Labor-day weekend)! Perhaps the emails I sent Friday perked someone's interest. He apologized. While he didn't offer to re-instate my $50, I do appreciate the gesture especially considering it was during a holiday weekend. :)

Sorry for being OT folks. My first post on this thread was trying to add to the information about UAD and DP use. I'll refrain from taking up more space on this thread unless on topic.
