Finder no longer showing iTunes MP3 artrwork on icons

Seen a few threads on this issue and tried a bunch of things so far and NO FIX. Used to be I could add artwork to MP3 files in iTunes and then drag to my desktop, and the icon for the MP3 file would be the artwork. No longer. Found a couple threads online about this issue already.

I'm on 10.6.8 with the latest update and iTunes 10.4 and yes, View Options is set to show the preview. Looks like Apple broke this somehow.

Just a follow up. I had a older version of iTunes on a backup. It was version 10.3.1. Tried running that and no luck. Apparently since then iTunes updated my iTunes library format such that the older version of iTunes can't read it! Had to go back to iTunes 10.4 and wait for Apple to fix it.

Just a thought: Is Spotlight disabled? I thought the artwork icons might be a product of the index. Index just once, and then turn off if needed.

Nice thought, but no that's not it. Apparently it seems to be a widespread issue according to the second link I posted.

Have you tried opening the file in iTunes and adding the artwork there? That's how I correct it when the database gets it wrong or I am doing something custom.

Yes. Actually that's how I always add artwork. These are MP3s of my own songs. People are saying it's an issue with iTunes 10.4.

An update to 10.4.1 was released yesterday that is supposed to address that issue.

Hmmm... unfortunately I my system it doesn't. I haven't tried running Onyx again, etc. But first few things I've tried, it makes no difference. Same problem.
