Machfive, Protools and Tiger OSX 10.4

Post by milkojnr »

I would to say how disapointed I am in Motu for their lack of support for machfive in OSX 10.4. There is many of us out there who love the Machfive and still can't use it in Protools.

Mach Five Still No Support For PT 6.9.2

Post by MusoPro »

There was supposed to be a release of Mach Five for RTAS and HTDM this summer. Well?

This is the only software that is holding me back from upgrading to Tiger.

What's the story?

We have posted a MachFive 1.2.3 RTAS/HTDM public beta, which resolves graphical issues related to OS 10.4 (Tiger). This update is also backwards compatible 10.3.9 systems.

Head to http://www.motu.com/download to obtain this update, and please let us know if you have any feedback (send messages to techsupport@motu.com, marked "ATTN: Josh / MachFive 1.2.3b PT update"). A finalized 1.2.3 update will be forthcoming.

Working great here.

AND -- a gift.... 32 bus outs (finally!) How wonderful. AND - it's actually 34 outs, since the "main" outs for the aux are in addition to the 1-32. Not that I would use 34 out from a single M5 instance... but I COULD!

Thank you, MOTU for finally getting this done.

One note of caution: for those of you who prefer to have a backup of an old version on hand just in case the new version doesn't work well, please note that 1.2.3b installer will search your hard drive for a legit copy of Mach5, and then wipe it, from wherever it is, before completing the install. Make sure you have a backup copy off-line before doing the install. Bad installer design!!! Bad, Bad, Bad. Why can't I stash an old copy of 1.2 somewhere on my hard drive, and SIMPLY let it live there? Because someone at MOTU decided new versions supercede all older versions, no matter what, because our users are too stupid to manage where the plugs go... </rant>

As I said before, thank you, MOTU, for getting this done and making what could be a lame duck, useable, for now. Now slap the guy who made the installer a few times and make him watch the Yankees take 1st place in the AL East.

With previous versions of MachFive, there were two separate files for the Pro Tools version -- one for RTAS, one for HTDM. Now there is a single file for both, so the old ones needed to be removed to prevent conflict.

If you wish to have a backup of MachFive 1.2, it's still available on our downloads page.
