I used to use WinXP SP3, the 896HD worked great! I "upgraded" to Win7 64-bit, the 896HD works great for about an hour. After that, the device sounds really bad. The output becomes gargled and distorted, and I am very frustrated!
I have tried:
-New Firewire Card
-Tried "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)"
-Tried "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller"
Any help is HUGELY appreciated!

Re: 896HD Output Gargled and Distorted
Hi, I had the same problem. There was no way to get through a song with MOTO896HD without the stuttering and garbled hangs that would wreck great performances. I was going to sell it and get an RME But I went to Windows 7 64 bit, and all of those issues went away like magic. Not a single stutter in the month since I upgraded. This 896HD works great with my current configuration. I know this does not make you feel good but format C and reinstall Windows 7 or go through the all the drivers. This driver is great and works flawlessly with my firewire. It made me so happy not to feel ripped off which I felt for a long time. MOTO support was a complete waste of time and energy. They hate windows users. Look at where Windows stands in the forum....at the bottom.
Are you sure you don't have the firewire in upside down? Dumb question but I did it. Eyes are going I guess. I hated MOTO for a long time. Now I think I have one of the best interfaces out there.
There's something you must have missed. Burn it down and try it again. It can work flawlessly and give you a great sound.

The problem is that your system was not under control nor working well, and then you upgraded Windows.
Back up any data you need to keep to another location, then install Windows 7 clean. During install, choose to format the hard drive. This is the "Custom" type of install, rather than an upgrade.
Good luck.
