yes, plugged and played in summer. then did reinstall recently and its dead as a door nail. its usb, so i dont need to configure it in Audio MIDI Setup do i? Created an instrument there anyway and the virtual MIDI cables wont latch onto it. poked around in DP prefs & found nothing... as did studio drop downs. DL'ed latest drivers even though it doesnt need any. tried different usb cable. repaired permissions, bypassed usb hub. could it be to do with the SW editor that comes with it?
ARRGGHH!
any ideas?

Mine works. It's listed under Unconfigured Ports in the drop-downs.
Make sure you don't have the ARP button lit or it won't work (at least it doesn't for me).
I've never used its editor.
Would like to help but I'm not sure what to tell you.

Re: Akai LPK25 wont work, going crazy
I just bought the similar Alesis 25-key controller (different housing but Numark owns both companies and they share components), and used it for the first time last night.
I couldn't get anything in DP to recognize and use it at first, even though it showed up in AMS.
The secret was to load each VI, individually, outside DP and configure it to "see" the controller. Then the same VI would accept its input from within DP.
A total PITA to be sure -- maybe there's a shortcut.
At any rate, given that I had a similar (if not identical) problem with gear from the same company, I thought I'd pass along what worked for me last night, in case it works for your Akai (which I almost bought instead) as well.
