More inputs

Post by whoshivsagit »

I currently use the Motu 8 Pre (along with DP 7and Mac Pro)
I am looking to have the ability for more inputs.

Thoughts..recommendations appreciated.

Thanks,

How many more inputs do you need? Do you have external mic pres that can be input into line-level inputs?

Have you considered a second 8Pre?

Adding another 8 pre seems to make sense. I do also have an API 3124.

Thanks!!!!!!

If you want to stick with Motu, you could also get an 828mkIII, which combined with your API unit, would give you an additional 6 mic pres over the 8pre alone, but more importantly, would allow you to use that API unit, which I'm pretty sure has higher quality mic pres than the Motu units do. You could also run the 8pre via ADAT into the 828, and everything would show up in the same cue mix window. You'd also have 4 remaining line level inputs on the 828, and up to 8 additional ADAT channels.

I bought a DigiMax FS.
I decided on this because of lots of config options, ins and outs.
Its been powered up 24/7 for a couple of yrs now I've had no Issues with it.

I second the idea of getting a 828mk3. That will also add functionality to your existing system beside giving you more inputs. Only 2 more mic pre but combined with the API you'd have 14 pre amp'd inputs and 4 free line inputs (for keyboards and/or if you get additional external pre amps) and one free adat so you could add a second 8pre later if you should need it.

Cheers
