Motu 828mk 3

Post by shnabz »

Can i send independant tracks (vst's) from my daw (cubase or fl studio) to the motu and its cuemix fx software and mix them individually? If so, how many tracks can i input into the cuemix software? Would this all be dont via firewire, so no in's on the motu would actually be used? As im not using any external hardware...yet.

I am getting the impression that i can only send the master out of my daw to a single input on the motu, hence absolutely no mixing capabilities whatsoever (in my case). I hope this is not the case.

Thanks for reading,

Yours Sincerely....Noob

Not really sure what you're trying to do but...
The CueMix software only monitors what's coming in on the INPUTS of the 828mk3. Analog or Optical ins. And for that you can use and mix all 28 tracks in CueMix. It has nothing to do with the things that are already in your computer however.

Why don't you mix in Cubase?

Please clearify what you are trying to achieve...

I would like separate tracks in cubase to go through cuemix fx individually, so i can use cuemix fx to add effects, and monitor the tracks visually, also it has a very nice interface and i would like to use it as a mixer.

Having my audio going through an audio interface may also give my tracks a little warmth and colour.

How can there be 28 tracks when it only has 8 inputs, thats what i dont understand.

Thanks

Well...
CueMix is designed to monitor the INPUTS of the 828mk3. So you would need to rout them to outputs and then in again.
Why don't you just add effects in Cubase?
The 828 is digital and there's no difference to the effects in CueMix to those in Cubase, you won't be adding any warmth. Only loosing things by the extra DA/AD conversion stage.

The 828mk3 also has 16 channels of optical inputs and some other things, making it 28 inputs total that can be controlled via CueMix...
