What To Buy Next?!?!?!? (pre, mics, monitors)

I'm writing this for all of your professional opinions ...

I'm working on 2 albums and have a small budget to invest in my next purchase ... here's a short rundown of my situation.

• 2408mkIII
• Tascam DM 24 (screen TOTALLY unreadable, pre's unusable. I use it for monitoring (DA conversion) and foldback mixes for tracking (with it's onboard verb)
• ISA 428 (2 of them)
• Great River 2 channel
• Avalon vt737
• some mics (iFet 7, Apex 420, Cascade ribbons (2), Neumann 103, 409, etc)
• Tannoy Active Reveals

I just did my drums and bass session and rented a precision 8 to do drums and bass together. I was pleased with the sound of the Pre 8.

Here's my question: I want to eventually upgrade my Monitors, Mixer (digital OR analog), mics, pre's. As of now, I have 12 good quality pre's but would like to be able to get another 8 channels so I don't have to rent preamps anymore.
What should be my FIRST purchase? I could get a good 8 channel pre, or better monitors, or a better Mixing console (to be able to use the pre's as well as use it as backend to feed my headphone cues), more/better mics, etc.

I have a few thousand to invest but what should be FIRST? What would you do?
The style of music I'm doing most recently is singer songwriter and then some soul. But it's NOT rock and it's NOT metal ... TONE is most important in these albums.

What pre's to look at? (Precision 8? Phoenix?)
What monitors? (adam's, dynaudio (too pricey?)
What mics?
What console? (studio live? go ANALOG?)
