WOW. Microbook and CueMix is great with DP

Post by dcoscina »

Duh, big surprise eh? Well, I haven't had a MOTU hardware interface for a while and I'm so happy with this little guy. Drivers are rock solid. Sound is nice and warm. Perhaps not as clear as my Duet but have to say CueMIx is better designed than the Apogee mixer. Love being about to route various things through different sets. Balanced ins and outs are a treat coming from the Apogee ONE (and Duet) neither of which has balanced IOs. Just to be clear, I still have my Duet as it does work rather well with Logic and I primarily bought the Microbook because it has more IOs to include my Kurzweil. I'll play around more with it as the week unfolds but gotta say I'm ecstatic with this little guy. Waaaay better than the ONE which scrimped on everything IMO. Even got a very generous trade for the MOTU from my local store. Thanks Mississauga L&M!

Hi,

Are you still happy with your Microbook?

I am planning on buying one.

I had absolutely no issues with it but got a Mbox3 instead for both ins and outs on SPDIF. Microbook only has out.

Nice box though!

Thanks.
That's true about the Microbook- only digi outs...so no expansion later on.

How does the audio/sonic quality compare with that of your new mbox?

I never had both to compare but I think the Mbox3 has perhaps a little greater dynamic range. The Microbook worked very well with my system though, no issues. If I didn't have a Duet, I would have hung onto the Microbook for portable laptop composing.
