Hi,
I am currently running into problems with my soundcard (currently m-audio fastrack pro usb) that as I'm using some virtual instruments my vst perfromance (ASIO?) gets overloaded and the sounds starts to crackle. When I look at my CPU the usage is maybe 20% so CPU is not the bottleneck. I have 12 GB of RAM, running Win-7 64bit (32bit DAW)
I know one solution is to increase the latency but it is very important for me to retain as little latency as possible.
So my question is that would changing a soundcard increase the load I can put into my vst performance (ASIO) without increasing latency?
If that would be the solution, I have been thinking of maybe buying a MOTU card and I have few questions related to that:
What would be good audiocard for my needs I need only 2-4 audio inputs/outputs as I mainly use virtual instruments, sometimes I might record singing, a guitar or a violin.
Is there a reason to get firewire audiocard over usb? (I only record audio 2-4 channels at the same time max.)
Best Regards.
Can new soundcard increase VST Perfromance (ASIO)?

Anyone? Would a PCI or Firewire card give me a better ASIO performance from USB one?
