i just got my motu 2408 mk2 in the mail, came with a pci 324 card,
and after I put the card in the computer and start it up, then go through the driver install prompts, my whole computer freezes up on the ks.sys part of the driver installation, and i have to restart manually
any suggestions?
i called motu and they said it's because i have a dual core processor.
but yet i've seen some posts of people getting it working on i7 chipsets and others....
or is there some way around it?

Re: can't install motu 2408mk2
It's very unlikely that the PCI-324 card will work with a motherboard that's compatible with a Core i7 CPU. The motherboard, chipset, and CPU are just too new for such an old card.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

I have a Pci324+2408mk2 on Gigabyte p55-UD3R motherboard with I7-860 CPU. All working normally. "Stop error" on KS.SYS is mostly software error, and - if your pci-324 card normally detected and system asked you about driver - all other works on "software level". Check twice your OS installation, drivers,etc... And - how much RAM you have and what Windows version used? On my setup - 4Gb Ram and 32bit WinXP-sp3, all working flawlessly.

Re: can't install motu 2408mk2
The problem is in case you are using a 64 bit Windows system.
As long as the motherboard has a 5V PCI slot, and windows are 32bit (Like XP 32) then it should work.
How about the performance of i7 with 32 bit Windows, specificaly for music applications. Is it operating satisfactory with XP 32 bit?
I have a PCI324 (with 2408mk2) + a Express XT (the Paralel version not USB!) and I am thinking to upgrade my old PC system, but using anything newer than XP32 would mean that I should scrap both of these and I cannot afford it.

Re: can't install motu 2408mk2
Greetings and salutations to all. My first post here.. Yep, I know this thread is a year or so old, but I saw something in the original post that wasn't addressed, and thought I'd bring it to light and possibly help someone searching with similar problems.
The post said that the PCI-324 card was installed before the driver was installed. Everything I've read implies that one must do the opposite, that is, install the driver before installing the card. Is this indeed something that could hose an install, and cause the issue(s) described above?
Sincerely,
Bill in Seaside
