Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Keyboard Shortcuts
Hello Everyone,
I have been wondering, since I've had some work to do on Protools and spent a lot of time searching for the keyboard shortcuts if anyone has tried simplifying that task by using the same set of shortcuts for similar functions in both programs? Since Pro Tools is out there a lot more often then DP an I thought I should perhaps move my DP shortcuts to Pro Tools and learn those so that I can be operational in another studio quickly. I remember we had an option to import those shortcuts from PT to DP at some point. Is that still possible?
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

They're in the DP downloads section of the MOTU support site under key bindings.

Hey, there, NazRat....NazRat wrote:They're in the DP downloads section of the MOTU support site under key bindings.
If you find it, do mind just posting the link? Going to the MOTU support site & searching does not yield any relevant findings for bindings. And the main support page is just the contact information & links to training & forums.
The main MOTU site is just plain difficult for me to find anything useful. Maybe I'm doing something wrong....(?)
Thanks for your time!

Re: Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Keyboard Shortcuts
They are there in the Mac Downloads section>Digital Performer. Scroll down past the updates.
Of course, you have to log into your MOTU account to access them. Access to the MOTU site requires you register and get a user name and password. Have your DP Key Code and serial number handy...
Once you do that you can go here without any trouble at all...

Re: Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Keyboard Shortcuts
The zip file has key binding for Studio Vision Pro, Cubase, Pro Tools and, of course, DP.

Re: Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Keyboard Shortcuts
By the looks of it there are quite a bit of differences. I'll have to somehow get my head around it... Still. I think it's going to pay off in the long run. PT is everywhere these days and I keep getting their shortcuts wrong because of my 15 years with DP...

Re: Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Keyboard Shortcuts
Wow, thanks, MLC!
I do most of my work at other people's studios, so learning the default shortcuts is on my to-do list, anyway.
But since there's a convenient, Commands window to look up shortcuts, I can also utilize it to learn where the command nomenclature differs between DP & PT.
Thanks again!

(Dreaming of a day where giving multiple names to commands like flatten/merge/consolidate become a thing of the past & are as standardized as the naming protocol for tape machine parts.)

Re: Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Keyboard Shortcuts
ancient topic post - I poked around the manual, in DP11, and in the downloads section of the MOTU site, I don't find a PT key bindings file anywhere, or any mention in over a decade. Presume it's gone?
Is this now a matter of exporting from PT and importing to DP? Haven't had them both open to see. I see some recent commentary about this not necessarily working.
Have many years in DP and pretty solid muscle memory on the things I use, but it's looking like I will increasingly be in PT, so it could make sense to harmonize towards PT to lower confusion.
Appreciate any thoughts.
