I jumped on this too..couldn't resist - actually went for the Magnetic & Echoes combo for 99USD. It should have been 90.28AUD at the current official rate but with the DontCrack/PayPal premium it was just over 93AUD - not that I'm complaining. It's a good time to send my money to the USA :D Looking forward to playing with these tomorrow.

Who cares about Echoes; all I care about right now is that my GODDESS Kate Bush has a Tayler-engineered album (first in six years!) called "Director's Cut" which is due for release in May 2011!!!!!!

Presumably final production was completed before Echoes found its way into the studio...

Sorry for going O.T., but awaiting the next Kate Bush album has been one of the causes of my life for the past 30 years...
Indeed 'Director's Cut' was a great project to work on! (Apologies for going O.T. as well!)

The album was mixed last year, and apart from some ProTools editing it was completely analog. So there were no plugins used! It was mixed down from 48 tracks to half inch, with no buss compression, and the mastering was done flat with no compression OR limiting. So the mixes sound exactly like what we were hearing in the studio, precisely as the 'Director' wanted! So it is not loud like most releases these days, and the dynamics are retained.

It has been difficult for me as I was not allowed to talk about it to anybody, but the lid is lifting with the imminent release and Kate beginning to be interviewed about the album. I was not allowed to listen to the original versions (which I had heard when they were released but had entirely forgotten) so it was like a completely new album to me. All the drums have been performed by Steve Gadd, and the whole album has a wonderful feel and atmosphere. I mixed 8 of the 11 tracks.

Cheers

Isn't it interesting that a thread entitled Echoes would find us reminiscing over Kate Bush, over 30 years later, over old songs made new (and by one of our own). It sounds like something we'd find in one of her own songs, her videos. While her influence echoes through the generations of women in pop music, none sounds so eloquently as her own voice. As a woman in pop music, the sounds of her songs generate echoes that thread the years, over 30 of them, with eloquence and movement, like her dancing in her videos. And the influence continues now in Director's Cut, like an old sock made new, meeting a new shoe. Echoes. Off topic? Hardly.

Nicely put, Shooshie!

Speaking of echoes, I had access to Kate's treasure trove of studio gear (she never throws anything away) and I found and tried an old Roland Space Echo....... It was rubbish! Noisy and worn out...... So I wound up using Eventide boxes instead, some of my favourites......

Old kit is wonderful, but a complete liability....... On the whole I do prefer me plugins, and complete recall.... I only had to recall one mix, and thanks to my Lumix and my iPad I was able to recreate the console and outboard settings in about an hour!

Cheers

Curious I have UA's Space Echo RE-201 would this be similar to Nomad's ECHO?

Cool, I can hardly wait, and indeed the irony of the relevance of this topic to Kate Bush is hardly missed by this fan!

As for ECHOES, I finally found a little bit of time to try it last night, and will definitely be buying it, simply because it does indeed do some things that SoundToys EchoBoy can't, and that even my hardware Electro-Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe can't do.

For csiaudio, take a look at the webpage for this product and you'll see that it emulates four or five (depending on how you count variations of a theme) different delay devices from times past, including Roland's Space Echo. There's a switch in the middle of the GUI that lets you decide which device you want to emulate.

The GUI shares the same basic structure and philosophy with MAGNETIC, but just maps the controls differently, and I find that this consistency makes it really easy to use one plug-in when one is already familiar with the other.

The main selling point for me, is the inclusion of the oil can delays, or whatever they're called (I'm on a quick forum visit during a long code compile, so can't take the time to do a lot of cross-referencing right now).

oh man, I'm loving this ECHO plug (and MAGNETIC too!). Wow.... couple it with the recommendation from Framkymax of the ValhallaDSP Room (reverb) plugin, and you're laughing all the way to the bank... this made my day (well, and also Vancouver beating Nashville... at what you might ask 8) ).

Just got around to replacing some instances of DubStation (which is a decent plug too) on solo lead guitar tracks with ECHOES and gotta say, I'm loving it. As sort of an old school guy who once owned an echoplex (I was a kid when I did... okay!!) it really feels familiar and what I expect a guitar delay to sound like. :)

Oh yeah and with Slate FG-X and MAGNETIC on the Master Fader it's pretty darn slammin'. I'd highly recommend that bundle they got going with MAGNETIC and ECHOES for $99. A lot of value for the money there!

James, kind of OT, but do you normally use Magnetic only on master or bus faders? Or, do you put it on every track? I just got it, and since it can really color the sound (which sounds great on a solo track) what are your normal settings? Thx!

My niece is graduating from the New School For Media in a few weeks (she's made her uncle very proud by landing an internship at a prestigious Manhattan studio) and I think I'd like to get her this bundle for a gift.

Any particular steps I should take with this vendor to make sure it's registered under her name?

I got the bundle and so far, I'm loving it!

Back in my tape days I used to put a deluxe memory man on a parallel drum buss for some cool sounds. This is pretty darn close and super easy to use.

I really just put it on the master fader and use the 30ips color preset as I recall. Can't look now. Not suggesting others do this. I don't consider myself any expert by any means... I send my stuff to someone else to mix if that tell you anything. :)

I finally broke down and bought it. I mean… $49? Who can resist? I haven't installed and authorized it yet, but at least I got it.
