DP 8 feature requests for QT
It would be great if QT in DP had a volume mute feature and a fit to screen function.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
You can easily mute the volume of the quicktime video by clicking the volume icon on the bottom-left of the video window. And of course you can drag the size of the video window to fit to screen. I don't see the real need for anything extra.
Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
*Mute is achieved by clicking the speaker icon with some modifier (Alt- If I recall correctly).
*Fit to screen is not there, and it would be very nice. I´d rather have two modes, where one of them does not resize the video out of it´s multiple par sizes, but does put a black frame to the edge of the screen to fill it up, loosing all controls visually too.
*A shortcut to move one frame forward/backward that works from anywhere in DP, avoiding the need to go to the video window to relocate in that manner, would be my most appreciated addition.

I agree that it would be great if DP could present video on screen, without the borders..... I paid a lot of money for VirtualVTR to be able to do that!! (although it was neat to have that running on a second Mac....)hrw wrote:.........and a fit to screen function.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
Yeah, I wondered why it didn't do this as Ableton Live does and I wanted to use DP to stream video in sync with my click live. Ultimately, since Ableton couldn't load whole sets or do a number of other things I need for my live set (ironically) I got a $150 firewire box that DP sends to video too. Works fantastic.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
Yes, the important thing about being able to PRESENT video on screen is that you can take a high res QT movie and output it through HDMI (or DVI with an HDMI adaptor) to an HD screen.... I did this by having the video chasing on my MacBook Pro out to my 50" plasma..... it works really well. I have used DP's built in support for DV through firewire, but it doesn't have the resolution I am looking for. The other thing I had asked MOTU was if they were thinking about how DP could interface with any of their video boxes......
here's hoping...

Some minimal video editing would be nice too, but it's a DAW so don't expect too much in the way of video features. I'd rather the efforts go into audio and keep the video stuff basic.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
I'd list this as more of a "*puh-LEEEZE* bring it back", than a "new" feature, but - prior to the "interesting" GUI update, a.k.a. DP 6 - DP's movie window used to have a "lock" icon that would give you an constant visual ref as to whether or not the movie was locked to the transport. And, as I recall, you click on that Lock icon to lock or unlock the movie.
I really can't imagine why MOTU took this out in DP6, but it's something I really miss, as it often saves badly needed CPU resources. And if you've locked (or unlocked) the movie, then gone off to do a dozen or so other edits/functions, when you roll back to the top for playback, you've got a 50/50 shot at whether you're locked or not locked and that's a workflow destroyer.
I wrote them about this about 1 1/2 years ago and finally received a boilerplate "thanks for the suggestion for a new feature" reply.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
How about graphic editing windows which can actually interpret data and draw lines. When editing MIDI volume data, for instance, it's constantly putting dots where you don't want them and putting elbows and weird corners in the lines. Drives me nuts!
I'll ask again: A way to view your buffer size without having to unload and reload all your plug ins. Sometimes I don't want to change it, i just need to know what it is.

Oh Duh! QT is Quick Time. Well I'm not exactly on topic, but I made my point none the less.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
I would love the chance to have just one Mixer for all sequences/chunks. Having different mixers for each chunk (yep I work in small sequences rather than one long one) drives me a bit nuts as all the settings are different for each sequence/chunk. Or maybe two - one for MIDI and one for Audio.

Re: DP 8 feature requests for QT
I suppose - but it just seems an unnecessary additional button pushing exercise. I have had one main mixer in my studio for years, and when I worked in a studio we had a main mixer. All your inputs and outputs were there. You don't use a different analog mixer for each song or verse or chorus. So why the need for a separate mixer for each chunk? If I make a change to the mixer settings on one chunk, do I not then need to do Clippings copying to every other chunk mixer? I mean how many inputs and outputs do you need ? This is one of the aspects about DP I can never understand. But then I can't understand how people compose pieces of music using just one chunk - if you use just one chunk then you only have one mixer - so what's the difference?MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Clippings wouldn't help?
