vintage mics

Post by nick danger »

One of my musical partners recently came into possession of some vintage mics.

One has no markings, but it looks similar to these Altec mics. I haven't plugged it in to test whether it's cardoid or omni.

Another is an Electrovoice Slimair Model 636-- here's a video of one that's been modified for a harp.

The last one isn't all that vintage-- An EV MC300 dynamic mic.

Anyone have any experience with any of these mics?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have used my 636 to capture acoustic rhythm guitars. Being omni-directional, there is no proximity effect. Used it on amp cabinets and toms with great success.

Wire it to 150 Ohms.
