Can i make a second partition ?

Post by slipstream »

Just bought a new imac with a 160 gig hd i wanted to have 2 partitions 1 with the os and one to put my audio on only
Is it possible to resize and create another partition without a reinstall ?
I know I can do this on a windows system with Partition Magic and some Linux distros like mempis have a tool you can boot from the cd with and run but not too sure how this would work on a Mac
DP 4.52, Imac 2 GHZ G5 1 gig Ram
Powerbook 1.5ghz 1 gig RAM
Motif ES7 and Tascam FW1082 interface

HERE. Goes without saying probably, but be sure to back everything up that you can't afford to lose.

or iPartition ( and iDefrag ) ...the first functioning app that was out at the time...
I wonder if the other tools care for files that must be defragged first before repartitioning ?
Personally I think their developpers are great and responsive

Take care

FWB makes some software that can partition drives without reforamtting them. Not sure how well it works, or if it is a optimal performance option.
