mp3 player for my webpage
Hi Unicorns!
I'm looking for an mp3-player to put on my homepage. Right now I've hosted my mp3-files on my server and the flash-player is provided by mixpod.com. I recently dicovered that they've stopped letting you host your own music in their players and I will need to find another sollution.
The best would be if there was any simple software in which you could create and customize your player to fit your needs and upload it on your own server instead of being depended upon someone elses server. But I know too little of these things. Any tips?

Hey fellow Stockholmian!
I'm not to familiar with this either. I'm using Soundcloud and it's working fine. There's some customizeations you can do and if you become a paying member even more so. The seem really reliable.

Tack för inlägget kompis!
I tried soundcloud but it didn't seem to be flexible enough I thought when I tried it a few weeks ago. Maybe I should give it a second try.

What parts are not flexible enough? The visuals?
I only have the free version of Soundcloud and it's a bit limited ofcourse, but still I feel the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I guess it depends on what the intended use is though.
Flash players feels like a bad thing as more and more people are accessing the web using iOS.

Indeed, I've thought of that too. Soundcloud is not a flash player? Thats good to know. What other encodings are there out there? Do you know? I'm totaly lost in this web jungle.FutureLegends wrote: Flash players feels like a bad thing as more and more people are accessing the web using iOS.

Re: mp3 player for my webpage
I'm not quite sure.
I can listen to songs on Soundcloud on my iPhone. But not the embedded player that you can put in blogs and stuff so it seems to be a mixed bag.
There's also a service called BandPage that you can use to spice up your Facebook Page that uses Soundcloud to but music there so that's a bonus...
I'm not trying to sell Soundcloud on you, but when I looked that seemed to be the best option.
If you find something cool, please let me know!

Re: mp3 player for my webpage
With so many iOS devices out there I'd look for a player that works without flash or switches between flash and non flash version.
Maybe the http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/

You might take a look at this:
http://www.wimpyplayer.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think it's still flash based, but I used the MP3 player on my site. But it's been years since I've researched this.
Also, FYI, check out this Root Music player:
http://www.rootmusic.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Right now it lets you easily put a player on your a Facebook page, but they are talking about adding the ability to make it embeddable on your own website, for example. It hasn't happened yet, but when they do, it may be a very good option.

Re: mp3 player for my webpage
Thanks James! This looks like something for me! You download and buy a software and let you cutomize your player in a WYSIWYG interface and then you can put it on your own server. It plays flash but switches automatically to HTML5 if it runs into an iOS.James Steele wrote:You might take a look at this:
