Using Guitar Rig 4 to effect signal—>record into DP 7

Okay, apologies first... am I in the right forum for this issue?

I'm sure this info can be found somewhere but I'm just not seeing it—and it may be right in front of me. So, please either direct me to the source of the info or just give me a basic clue to the following question.

I am a DP 7.22 user with an 828mk3. I have added Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 (software only) to my set up. I want to play guitar using Guitar Rig 4 effects before recording onto a track in DP 7.

How do I set this up?

I tried using G Rig4 in plug in mode but this "Plugin" only seems to work after I have a track recorded. Then I tried opening G Rig4 as a stand-a-lone instrument and go at it that way but nota. I could "hear" the effect but DP wasn't getting anything but the clean/non effected signal. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Hello! Generally when you're recording into DP using Guitar Rig as an insert on the guitar track, DP is always recording the clean signal and applying the effect on playback. That way you can track clean, then tweak the effect to your heart's desire later.

If you want to commit to the tone when tracking and record a wet signal, you can route your input through an aux track with Guitar Rig, which then outputs to an audio track that you actually record to.

I knew it had to be something somewhat simple but sometimes it's front of your face (or my face in this case) and I couldn't see it.

WOULD I BE PUSHING MY LUCK TO ASK ONE MORE QUESTION?

If I'm trying to create an "inspiring" monitor mix, to track prerecorded tracks with a new overdub track, say for instance vocals, would you also route the vocal being recorded through an AUX track? I haven't been satisfied with my monitor routing & system set up thus far. AND/OR does it have something to do with how I'm routing the headphone out in the Audio Setup?

Is there a Template for setting up a good monitoring system using CueMix FX and DP, etc? There should be considering just about everybody would use that at some time in a studio. I do have a headphone amp with multiple outs—if I could only get the right mix to it to begin with.

Anyway, if you don't tackle this question thanks again for the answer on the first one.
