NI and Spectrasonics VIs steal transport

Post by jlaudon »

Lately, since I've installed the latest NI versions of Kontakt and reaktor, a few VIs seem to be stealing the transport again - I went through all my VIs and the ones that steal are Omnisphere, Stylus, Kontakt 4, and Reaktor (the other NI VIs work fine).

Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks.

Yep. All 3 Spectrasonics VI's (Stylus, Trilian, and Omnisphere) lock out the transport and keyboard if they are in the front. Here's the thing: On my old G5, no problem. On my new Hexacore, problem. Dp 7.21 and DP 7.22 are both affected by this on my new Intel Mac with Snow Leopard. So the only variables were: Leopard and G5 did not have this problem. I'm pretty sure it's a MOTU thing and not a Spectrasonics thing. I will be loading Omnisphere 1.5 soon and I'll see if the behavior changes or not.

Yep, unfortunately also Omnisphere 1.5 has the same problems on my system. The upside is that I mostly use it in Bidule anyways (so still a couple mouse clicks), as the memory gets full fast within DP using Omnishpere (hence crashes).

It works fine here with DP 7.22, but that's a bug DP exhibited in earlier versions, so I'd suggest contacting MOTU with the details to let them know.

Interesting Glenn because it's not working over here, including Omnisphere 1.5. Everything was freshly installed on my new computer, no importing old preferences, etc. The VI's work perfectly but they block out the transport and keyboard. Hopefully fixed in the next Dp update? And thanks Glenn for an amazing Omnisphere update!

Omnisphere is working here.
No theft of transport.
New version is cool.
Seems to have fixed another plug that was stealing transport.
Weird!
All is well

This is very puzzling! I wonder what the difference is that's making it not work on my new 6-core? I have pre-rendering on. It doesn't matter if it's on or off. It's a minor PITA. By the way, my machine defaults to a 64 bit boot. I have had no problems with that by the way.
