New Drivers : 4.0.44925 : 07/02/11 : Any Views?
I notice there is a new Windows USB/Firewire driver/cuemix installer package installation available on the MOTU website. 4.0.44925 : 07/02/11.
I've not always been impressed by the quality of MOTU driver updates in the past so I'm loath to install on spec when if my current drivers are not exactly perfect I've got used to what they do wrong.
Anyone have any personal experience they would like to share. Does it work? Does it fix any known bugs? Any new features. That sort of thing.
Thanks.

Haven't tried them yet. I really wish that the MOTU driver developer would learn how to write either a changelog, or some sort of "What's new" description that at least highlights any important bug fixes.
Offhand, all I can easily verify as changed is that the Cuemix software has a new "tuner" utility, so that you can tune instruments such as a guitar plugged into the MOTU.

This feature isn't new. It was released months ago:j_e_f wrote:Offhand, all I can easily verify as changed is that the Cuemix software has a new "tuner" utility, so that you can tune instruments such as a guitar plugged into the MOTU.

"If it ain't broke..."
I just recently reverted to the original version that came with my hardware, with outstanding results.
I too would really appreciate MOTU posting revision logs, like any other software developer does?
I'm running a Traveler mk3 ON xpsp3. I found that any updated drivers/software other than the original version 3.6.8.1400 that came with it, resulted in higher CPU and memory usage which in turn, of course, limited what my DAW could do at the same time. This is the version of CueMix FX that has the scope and nothing else.
Other than the additional tuner etc., maybe some updates for windows 7 (?), who knows if they don't tell you. I get faster response from CueMix FX with the older drivers and can run smaller default buffers in Audio Console than anything newer. I've tried them all for some reason.
Cheers,

No positive news at all then?
It might not actually fix or improve anything in the existing range. Probably the generic release to support the 828 hybrid. Given how long it took them to get the Ultralite hybrid working and lack of info. in general I think I'll wait for the next point release.

It's working very well for me with various computers, and I have a few different interface models. In fact, there's new UI in the MOTU Audio Console program for synchronized multiple FireWire interfaces, and this feature now seems to work as it was intended to. It never worked very well before when I tried it.

1inputOutput,
Does the new driver allow you to use multiple firewire devices of different manufacture? Or are you limited to multiple Motu units?

The MOTU driver doesn't have any control of devices from other manufacturers.cragto wrote:1inputOutput,

The question was intended to ask if the new driver allows another interface's driver to be used. In other words, the question is whether the new MOTU driver allows a Steinberg/Yamaha MR816, whose drivers according to Steinberg do not conflict with MOTU drivers, to be used simultaneously with a MOTU Ultralite MKIII.

The ASIO hosts that I know well (Live, Cubase, and Sonar) allow only one ASIO driver to be used at a time. As far as I know, that's just how ASIO works, and it's not something that the MOTU driver can control. There may be third-party virtual device drivers that would allow you to group multiple, separate ASIO devices into one virtual device, but I'm not familiar with anything like that.

I understand that WDM allows multiple devices to be recognized, and that MOTU and Steinberg include WDM that Sonar (for one) can use. Has anyone been successful?

I installed the new drivers and now my PC will not recognise the UltraLite.
I created a techLink (ie asked for help at motu.com) but have had no reply.
I will try uninstalling and rolling back to the 2nd Aug 2010 version.
