no audio, cant record. 828mk3 + Cubase 5

Post by Hiphopisdead167 »

Heres the deal.. i was on the phone with a motu guy and he set me up so i can get my pc audio through my main out in the front of my MOTU 828MK3

heres the problem(s)

1) Using Cubase 5, the mic/guitar inputs & outputs remain inactive, but the mics are showing activity on the front of the interface and in CueMix FX

2) when i change to 192k or any other #k besides 44.1k, the options in the audio console limit me to the analog inputs only (seemingly).

can somebody please help?

BTW all i have is MICs, an sm57 and a Rode NTK condensor, this is how i wish to record so the mic inputs on the front of the interface is my only option. or am i going about this the wrong way..? for guitar i would be using 2 mics and for bass, 2 mics and a direct-in through one of the analog inputs.

i was told it was possible with the 828 but could i be wrong..?

You're issue has to do with outputs, not inputs: When the 828mk3 is set to 192 kHz, the main outputs are not a discrete output pair. They can only mirror another output pair. So if Main Out Assign is set to Main Out 1-2 when the sample rate is 44.1 kHz, that assignment is no longer valid at 192 kHz. Likewise, the driver outputs Main Out 1-2 will no longer be valid in Cubase when the sample rate is 192 kHz. So the answer is that you will need to set the track outputs in Cubase to another output pair (such as Analog 1-2) and set Main Out Assign in MOTU Audio Console to the same output pair.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.
