Hi folks, I bought a used 2408mkIII and after many moths I finally thought I would install it today. Installed the 424 pci card, plugged in the power to the 2408, turned it on and AAAAARGH realized I had forgotten that I bought it from the US and that it was set to 115V operation. Of course I put in our European 220V and now it´s pretty much dead (of course I set it to 220V after my fail). The good news though is that it does not smell funny, so I am hoping it is - if I am very lucky - just a fuse that I need to change. Or maybe the powersupply by a tech, hope it is no worse than that. What do you guys think, anyone been through something similar? How are the chances that it is fixable and how are the chances that I might have totally destroyed the interface?
Thanks a bunch!
Flo

I'd open 'er up and have a look. You might find a fuse or other "sacrificial" part that can easily be replaced.
PS: Unplug the unit from the wall first.

I already tried that but MOTU made sure that the tip which y you need for unscrewing the four round screws on the front panel are as rare as dynamics in a britney spears song....I will try to buy the right tip tomorrow and try again. Does anybody know if it is a star shaped or a pentagon shaped tip?

The screws on the front are actually hex rather than torx, but an odd size. The 2408 Mk3 has a conventional transformer power supply - it's not switch-mode, which is probably a good thing. When you do this sort of thing with a switch-mode power supply, lots of silicon self-destructs. Most likely the fuse has gone open. Worst case - the primary winding on the transformer may be open-circuit or shorted, but hopefully it's just the fuse.
