got a strange problem with my 2nd hand purchased MOTU 24io.
when i power up the unit, some of the input leds are at maximum level and some are 'jumping around/changing'. this happens even if no gear and no firewire is connected. just the powercord and 24io itself.
when i connect it to the mac and with other gear, Mac does see the unit and also recording is possible. but i cannot see the recording level on the 24io because the leds are always at maximum level but the recording level is correct.
the following input leds are constantly at maximum level: 1,2,3,17,18,19
the following input leds are 'jumping around/changing': 6,7,8,22,23,24
already got a 24io which works perfectly, so i was able to compare both with exactly the same connections.
does anyone know how to fix this? is the unit 'broken'?
hope someone can help me soon.
thanks very much in advance!
cheers
frank

MOTU 24IO some Inputs Leds at Max. without gear connected
Unplug the unit and push the voltage selector switch on the side of the unit back and forth between 120 and 240 a couple of times and then put it on the correct voltage, plug it in, and then turn it on and see if that helps. Sometimes working that selector helps.

It might just be broken, but I would check this first: If you remove the top panel, you'll probably see that there's a ribbon cable that connects the front panel PCB to the main PCB. Perhaps if that cable is not connected well or there is interference on the cable it could cause the symptom you're describing.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

It´s broke. Return it!
Had the very same problem with a brand new 24 I/O that I bought last year as my second 24 I/O.
I got a new one from the dealer.
