The more graphics to process, the more CPU you will incur.

I thought that might be the case, but wondered if it was a wash with the page refresh once end scrolled to the end

Thanks!

Yes it sure does have an impact on CPU.
When using DP in live situation, I always disable auto scroll.

When we're at it:
I've never understood why auto scroll won't work in track overview.

Because MOTU chose not to implement it? I guess you'd have to ask them.

Right, James. I've just wrote a suggestion about it on Motu's site. I will post about any answer from Motu.

Re: Auto scroll versus page scroll

I never use continuous auto-scroll, but I always use auto-page turn (also called auto-scroll, but with one different preference). I find that even when continuous scroll is working fine and not eating up too much CPU, my eyes are trained to read from left to right, not sit in the middle. I see page at a time. If the page is moving, I lose my reference points and it becomes harder for me to read. So, I just read the page, looking ahead and looking behind -- especially to check out something I just heard. If I need more time, I CONTROL-ARROW back (or ahead), and maybe disable scrolling.

Does anyone find continuous scrolling to be easier for them? I thought it would be, but found myself always a little bewildered by it. What I wanted to see was never quite on the screen when I needed it to be. Page-at-a-time scrolling works fine for me, though.

for me it's 'new" because that other software only had it with the $$$$$ version.

Where I think it will be of help is if I'm looking for lip smacks, bass players whack their pups, stick noise and the time frame is ..'hi-def' on page scroll it can go by too fast, whereas the centerline autoscroll allows me to look ahead

It may be that I go back to page scrolling simply because that's what I've been used to - for now... i'm the proverbuial kid with a new bike :D
