Blank Routing Tab-Clockworks-Timepiece AV USB

Post by ForestCat »

Hi,
XP SP3
Most recent MOTU Drivers/Clockworks
Firmware/ROM v2.0.1

Have Tried:
Full reset
Reinstall s/w & drivers
Searching the web/these forums ( other w/ same problem/question, no solutions)

Interface appears operational, ports are available to DAW s/w, etc.,just no routing info/capability in clockworks. The docs refer to a "console" application, which looks way more feature laden than clockworks, don't have a cd, can't find this console app anywhere online.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be a Godsend. Thanks.

*****EDIT*****
Although the ports are present in various DAW/VST host, etc., no MIDI data is being transmitted despite the status leds on the MOTU indicating reception from a connected keyboard.

THE QUESTION: Since I already have the most recent ROM according to this forum, but I DO NOT have the M/W on the serial number sticker, will the $20 ROM upgrade get me anything I don't already have?

It sounds like your MTP-AV requires a USB ROM update to be compatible with Windows. There are two ROMs in the unit: One contains the running firmware program, and the other controls the USB communication. Older USB ROMs were not compatible with Windows and would produce exactly the symptoms you're describing.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Apologies for not posting back here sooner, got sidetracked & forgot...

For the benefit of others w/ the same issue, the USB chip did the trick. Works flawlessly. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for posting back - I too have an older MTP AV (bought second hand), and after the efforts to get the manual (even purchase of it wasn't simple) and then find I couldn't use all of it unless I got a Mac turned me off spending more by buying the 'updated' ROM.

Could you advise whether 'cannons' and 'modifications' are easily programmed from the Clockworks program?

Richard,

Like you, I bought an older serial Timepiece AV specifically for it's advanced MIDI processing capabilities. Anyone feel free to correct me here, but Clockworks for Windows is to Console for OS9 what Notepad is to Microsoft Word. Forget it. The value of the older timepiece to Windows users is that it can be connected to a USB timepiece via the serial ports, giving you 16 MIDI ports which can be "patched" routed, and merged in Clockworks/Windows. But all that "cannon" & "modification" goodness is forever lost on anything except Mac OS9. Damn shame really. I've resigned myself to MIDI-Ox, Bidule, etc., etc., for all the MIDI juju. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.It seems that the time I spent using the front panel will continue to stand me in good stead. There does not appear to be any gain for me by updating the ROMs.http://www.motunation.com/forum/posting ... 14&t=44355#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
