Graphic Editor not playing MIDI notes while soloed RESOLVED
Hey all,
I've searched for an answer to this and couldn't find anything. Sorry if it's been discussed before.
I'm having an issue with the MIDI graphic editor, where, when I have MIDI tracks soloed and open the MIDI editor there is no audio produced by the MIDI notes. Any suggestions? Is this a feature? If so I don't like it.

Do you have the solo button activated in the Transport?
Maybe Command-S would help?

Is this on playback or are you editing. If you're editing, and you're not hearing notes when you click on them, make sure that the VI involved is set to run in real-time (or shortcut is to put the MIDI track in rec-enabled status).
If this is during playback, make sure that the VI (or input pair coming from the MIDI module) is also soloed.

Re: Graphic Editor not playing MIDI notes while soloed
Are you sure you're using DP 7.22? There was a bug about 4 or 5 versions ago, which persisted all through version 6.x and up into 7.x. It involved the Shortcuts Window. If the Shortcuts WIndow was open, solo would not work in the graphic editors if you had chosen "Solo Frontmost Window" in the preferences. That was because DP thought the Shortcuts Window was the front-most window. That's been fixed, though, so it should be working fine in DP 7.22. I just tested it, and yes, it works.
So, check the version of DP that you're using. Maybe you defaulted to an older version on your hard drive? Otherwise, I'll re-read your post and see if something else rings a bell.

Other possibilities:
Does your audio depend on any audio tracks or Aux tracks? If so, you need to make sure that the audio path is preserved through solos by clicking "Solo Exempt" out beside the essential tracks in the Tracks Window.
When you open the MIDI Graphic Edit Window, are you sure that you've got the play-enabled MIDI tracks selected? When you go from window to window, different tracks will solo, depending on which ones are selected in that window. If you don't like that, turn off that feature in the preferences.

Re: Graphic Editor not playing MIDI notes while soloed
Well it seems that it was the "Solo Most Front Window" option. I removed the option and all is working as expected.
Thanks guys!

Check the version of DP. You've got 7.22 in your sig, but that problem is fixed in 7.22. I use it all the time, and there's not a problem. You may be opening an old copy of DP.jwelty wrote:Well it seems that it was the "Solo Most Front Window" option. I removed the option and all is working as expected.

Oh dear. Don't tell me that bug is back. And intermittent, no less. I'm using 7.22, but the solo works fine so far.
