problem with MIDI express XT rom upgrade

Post by gobert4 »

Hello everyone
sorry for my English ... :sorry:
I purchased an interface MIDI express xt (old usb version), and i made the rom upgrade, to use the MIDI interface under win7...

now, the motu seems to work....however, two problems that were not previously present:
1.the "SELECT" and "BANK" buttons, in functions are reversed. if i push "select" change the bank "FACTORY" or "USER" and vice versa.
2.motu Clockworks software, presets "FACTORY" and "USER" are reversed  when i click one of the factory preset on the windows of the software, actually modify the user preset and vice versa...
I would add that it was also replaced the battery 3V because the original was exhausted ...
What happened to the interface??? :smash:
thanks...

The MIDI Express XT has two ROM chips: The USB ROM controls the USB communication with the computer. The program ROM controls all of the MIDI processing and front panel features.

If you put a program ROM for a newer MIDI Express XT (the current model with removable rack ears) into an older MIDI Express XT (with non-removable rack ears and clear buttons), it will cause the symptoms you're describing. Put the old program ROM back in the unit, but retain the new USB ROM (v1.3.2). That should fix the problem.

thank you very much!!!
have clarified the question :D I was thinking the same thing...

italian assistance was wrong to send me the ROM (of MIDI processing)...

I specified to have the old express XT and not the new model! :shake: I paid more, obviously

p.s.
and the crash problems are disappeared with windows xp...this interface is not fully compatible with win7...

You're welcome.

The older MIDI Express XT is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP. If you think it's causing crashes in Windows 7, you should probably contact MOTU tech support in the U.S. They can look at logs from the crash and try to figure out what caused it.
