"Time" compression/expansion

Is there software available for time compression for DP/Mac.
i.e. in dealing with broadcast production sometimes we cut
a "perfect take" but it may be 2-3 seconds long. I would like to
"time compress" the production without having to re-cut "it".

It's right there in DP, but one of the reasons I keep ProTools handy is for the extremely powerful and effective X-Form plugin. DP's timestretching works very well, but the nature of the content determines the quality of the result.

Well said.

You might want to try "Amazing Slow Downer", too. About $50.00-download. It might be called "Amazing X", now.

You can download a free demo, but it's restricted in length of the file, and (I believe) no saving.

You could, at least, see if it achieves acceptable results before purchase.

Right there in DP "Time Scaling".

As you can tell we don't get too sophisticated doing commercials...lol

Actually we do quite often, but I guess I have been too lazy to delve into all the capacities in DP. You have instigated my re-newal in re-reading the manual!!

There's a way to stretch a MIDI selection very quickly and easily. Hold down the CONTROL key. The cursor will change to the "proportional drag" cursor. Grab the last MIDI object's velocity marker or controller marker and drag to where you want it. Everything else that is selected will scale with it. You will probably need to hold down the SHIFT key to constrain the motion in one direction, so that you don't move vertically if you're dragging horizontally.

Note that this works differently if you grab actual notes than if you grab their velocity markers. If you grab anything in the continuous controller grid, you will get a scaled, proportional drag. If you do the same thing to notes, the selected notes will all snap to the same time point, beginning or end.

Those are just some of the things you can do with the Control key.
