Pause - what for ?
I never use the PAUSE function, only start, stop and rec. Recently I put DP after recording a rehersal in PAUSE and hit the same button again at the beginning of the concert - as usual earlier with DATs,etc. That was a surprise. The record process didn't continue. What the hell is PAUSE present for ?

Re: Pause - what for ?
It's funny, I've never used it. In the manual it says Pause doesn't stop notes, so maybe that's good for something? I don't know. It mentioned a few other things in there, too, but it really didn't make any sense to me why I wouldn't just use Stop.

Re: Pause - what for ?
Pause can be used to cue the sound for instant start, regardless of buffer size. Hit pause, and when you're ready, hit play. The sound will start instantly. No guessing where the downbeat is.

I use it to relocate the wiper a lot.
Pause + Cmmd 4/6 to relocate to the beginning or end of the selection for example.

Re: Pause - what for ?
I've used record/pause to insert commands, MIDI notes, program change, or some other controller data at specific locations.

Yeah, sometimes I use it to troubleshoot chords that don't sound right. More often I just drag the cursor, but pause frees up the cursor and you can drag the notes around while it is sustaining, until you get it fixed.Dan Worley wrote:It's funny, I've never used it. But then we could use those Wile E. Coyote suction cups! They just might work great!Frodo wrote:If the mountain were smooth, you couldn't climb it.

Also, (more on topic, sort of) Pause works great for smelling the roses. Hit the pause button now and then to go out and get refreshed!
My dog just looked at me and rolled her eyes and said "you really don't know what Paws are for?" Then the cat said to the dog, "what do YOU know about paws?" Lots of perspectives to consider here.

Why not just use CMD-4/6? What does the pause command add to this operation?zaratero wrote:I use it to relocate the wiper a lot.

Re: Pause - what for ?
I can't think of a time that I've ever NOT used it. But that comes from my analog days, I suppose.
I set my levels in pause mode. I also verify VI settings and other stuff in pause mode. I also use pause mode again if I want to save time in recording some fills that only occur a few places in the song. It allows me to get a precise count-in without having to enable too many tracks, with or without a metronome engaged.

Re: Pause - what for ?
Thanks for your comments. My original question was not formulated correct. I meant what for is PAUSE there during audio recording. And I wanted to warn all idiots like me : do not try to pause your audio recording process.

When you relocate playback doesn´t start automatically.bayswater wrote:Why not just use CMD-4/6? What does the pause command add to this operation?zaratero wrote:I use it to relocate the wiper a lot.
