-Solved- No MOTU Audio device detected?!! Microbook problems

Post by Samfuzii »

Hi!

I`m sitting on a 3-years old PC with windows 7 profesional 32-bit installed.

Just a few days ago I bought a MOTU Microbook, but I seem to have some problems installing it.

First of all:
The device is installed and windows tells me it`s working fine. To a certain degree this is true; all sounds are played via Microbook, it`s listed as defaul audio device, no conflicts detected and CueMix FX is working.
The problems start when I try to start MOTU Audio Console or MOTU SMPTE console. As I try to launch the audio console, windows promt:
"No MOTU Audio Device could be found. Make sure your MOTU Audio device is connected, powered on, and that the drivers are installed."
As I try to launch the SMPTE console, windows promt:
"No MOTU Audio device detected."

The errors indicate that Microbook is not installed. Even if it`s listed in device manager as installed and working, and in the sound devices screen it`s marked as defeaul audio device.

I have tried to uninstall, reinstall (lasted drivers ofc), new USB cable, uninstalled antivirus, disable 1394 in BIOS and device manager, all power saving options removed (including USB can`t power down now), removed all other audio devices on my computer.

The result is the same:
CueMix FX works
Playback works - all sounds are played via Microbook
MOTU Audio console does not work
MOTU SMPTE console does not work

Anyone out there that can help me out? =)

/Sam

The MicroBook is not controlled by the MOTU Audio Console program or the MOTU SMPTE Console program. Those programs are used to control other MOTU FireWire and USB audio interfaces such as the 828mk3 and Traveler mk3. The MicroBook is only controlled by CueMix FX.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Jeez =)
Thanks for the clarification! This explains it. This means my Microbook works as intended.

As you probably understand; I have alot to learn about these topics. I bought the Microbook to improve the sound-quality on my computer since I invested in a good headset. That`s why I thought the software included with the Microbook (CueMix FX, MOTU Audio console and MOTU SMPTE console) was all ment for me to use =)

I`m abit puzzeled why my retailer didn`t tell me this, as I phoned him and asked about theese questions.... (I`m not the only "noob" *phew*)

Thanks again
